Places To “Chow Down” In Big Bear & The Inland Empire
Almost every time I show property, potential buyers ask “Are there any good restaurants in Big Bear? I typically find myself conducting a food tour on our way to the listings. So I have decided to share my favorite places and my most favorite foods on their menus. I should preface this with the fact that the food fare listed may not be their specialties, but they are special to me! So here goes …
B’s Back Yard BBQ (350 Alden Road, Big Bear Lake) …….Without a doubt, Saturday and Sunday all day Build your own Bloody Mary Bar. Favorite dish is the very unique Brisket Salad. Note: everyone is served homemade potato chips with secret sauce!

Old Country Inn (41126 Big Bear Boulevard, Big Bear Lake) ……. Calamari like no other in the USA. You’ll love the half price if you sit at the bar during happy hour. Favorite Omelet: Joe’s special.
Sonora Cantina (41144 Big Bear Boulevard, Big Bear Lake) ……. Located right next door to her “sister restaurant”, the Old Country Inn, Sonora Cantina serves Traditional Mexican Dishes and it is GREAT! Check out the Big Juan Burrito and win a T-Shirt if you can finish it in under 45 minutes!
La Montaña (42164 Moonridge Road, Big Bear Lake, CA) ………..Best Happy Hour in Big Bear! The chicken and beef Nachos are outstanding!
El Jacalito (535 Pine Knot Avenue, Big Bear Lake, CA) …………Summer time, hands down the best oyster plate around
Peppercorn Grille (553 Pine Knot Avenue, Big Bear Lake) ……….. Although all of the food is excellent, I am totally satisfied with a glass of Chiante and Bruschetta appetizer. – http://www.peppercorngrille.com
Thelma’s (337 W Big Bear Boulevard, Big Bear City) ………..Unbelievable Chicken pot Pie served Friday nights only and you may want to call ahead to reserve your pie.
Barnstorm Cafe (501 W Valley Boulevard, Big Bear City) ……….Mimosas in the Morning with Eggs Benedict. Don’t miss the Crab Cakes!
Pong’s Oriental Delights (42104 Big Bear Boulevard, Big Bear Lake) ……… Chicken pad tai noodles and the Pong’s Special, also the best War Wonton Soup ever!
Fuji Restaurant (41025 Big Bear Boulevard, Big Bear Lake) …….Everythng sushi and sashimi, but what is perfect is that you can dine with friends that prefer Tepen or other grilled dishes while enjoing an incredible Chef Show. – http://www.restaurant.com/FujiRestaurant
The Himalayan Restaurant (672 Pine Knot Avenue, Big Bear Lake) ……….Amazing Indian Food, the Tandoori and the Masala are my favorites.
Blondies Grille (625 Pine Knot Avenue, Big Bear Lake) ………..Friday night half price Rib Eye Steak Special.
Captain’s Anchorage (42148 Moonridge Road, Big Bear Lake) ……….Chilean Sea Bass served in a white wine sauce. For the lighter side, the salad and soup bar are terrific. Be sure to try the Clam Chowder.
Maggios Pizza (42160 Big Bear Boulevard, Big Bear Lake) ……..Pizzas are delicious, but my favorite would be 1 giant meat ball, the bay shrimp salad, garlic bread and a glass of Chiante (about $12.00).
Jaspers Smokehouse & Steaks (607 Pine Knot Avenue, Big Bear Lake) …….Just gotta try the combo plate and don’t miss Toni’s baked potato salad. – http://www.jasperssmokehouse.com

Madlon’s (829 W Big Bear Boulevard, Big Bear City) ………The Duck Salad with a glass of Champagne, totally ‘Non Pariel’ (like no other).
Victorville
CHATEAU CHANG (15425 Anacapa Rd., Victorville) ……..If you are down the hill or just heading home, for a special treat, stop in and see my friend Jan @ CHATEAU CHANG. Trust me, the French Chinese Cuisine will ‘knock your socks off!’ One of my favorite dishes is the Korean Hot Wings. Whatta Dish! It’s located just south of Palmdale Rd. west of the 15 at 15425 Anacapa Rd. (off Palmdale turn south on Park Ave., east on Park Ave. East and South on Anacapa) Just mention “ Janet from ERA in Big Bear sent you and receive 5% off your ticket!’
